Both anime has incorporated the concept of “the seven sins” in their story.

7/10. Hunter x Hunter (Chimera Ant Arc)

Episodes – 148

Hunter x Hunter is one of the greatest shonen anime of all time, and it more than deserves a sequel. However, due to the manga author’s health condition, the story has been progressing very slowly to get another season.

Regardless, this anime is all about adventure, with a ton of action in it. You will absolutely fall in love with HxH World and its characters because the show is that good.

Especially, the latest Chimera ant arc anime is very similar to FMAB in terms of how dark it gets.

Similar to Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, this anime arc has a dark theme.

Overpowered villains who are almost invincible.

In FMAB humans were used as an ingredient for the philosopher’s stone and it was used to create “Homunculus”, where as in HxH, the humans were used as food for the queen chimera ant, which in-turn produced chimera soldiers.

Code Geass is easily one of the greatest anime series that I have ever seen.  There is no anime that is on par with Code Geass in terms of character building.

I remember absolutely falling in love with the main character’s personality and attitude, to the point that I rewatched the series five times. It was that good!

Maybe it had that effect on me since it was my first anime, but a lot of other fans agree with me, so this show is really worth watching.

This anime is probably the farthest from FMAB in terms of the settings, but it does have some similarities, like the main character’s personality.

The intent to go the extra miles for the sake of their sibling.

Both the main character and the antagonist lost something in order to gain something.

The Demon Slayer is the talk of the town these days. For some reason, this anime has become very popular in America and other Western countries.

This anime is all about demons and the people who sacrifice their lives fighting them.

While the plot of this anime might not be very great for a veteran fan who has watched a ton of similar shows, it is definitely beginner friendly.

With a great animation, beautiful voice overs and a dark plot, Demon Slayer definitely deserves a spot on this list of anime like FMAB.

We are going back to the classics with this one. The Blue Exorcist was extremely popular a decade ago, with tons of fans.

There was a good reason for its popularity though. The main character was interesting and kind of relatable.  He had a personality that everybody liked.

Not to mention, the plot of this series about how the son of Satan fights against his father in order to save humans is a pretty amazing watch.

Both the anime portray the brotherly bond between the siblings and their relationship with their father.

Similar to Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, this anime has a great action theme with awesome animation.

Both the MCs are special. Ed can use alchemy without a transmutation circle, whereas the main character in Blue exorcist is the son of Satan so he can use powerful attacks.

2/10. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency

JoJo part 2 is arguably one of the greatest parts in the Jojo’s bizarre adventure series. Especially because the MC’s personality is completely opposite that of Part 1’s MC.

In this part we get to see some ancient beings reserructed who aim to become immortals. These guys are so insanely powerful that none of the modern weapons work on them.

It is the job of our MC to fight these seemingly undefeatable villains. He has to learn the secret technique that has been passed down in his family to become strong enough to face these superhuman enemies.

Both the anime have immortal, physically superior villains.

Fullmetal Alchemist has the philosopher’s stone, while Jojo has the stone mask and the Red Stone of Aja.

Both the villains are trying to become perfect beings.

Jojo Part 2 has ripple energy which is similar to the alchemy used in FMAB.

Both the anime have a similar late-19th century setting.

This is where a special organization that specializes in killing them comes in. They use the power of “innocence” to achieve this.

What’s more interesting is the MC’s past. The more the series reveals the truths about him, the more interesting it gets.

Both anime has a dark themed story line.

FMAB has alchemy, whereas D. Gray-man has the Innocence ability.

Both the main characters have a tragic backstory.

Both tried to bring someone back from the dead and paid a heavy price.

In Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, the humans were used to philosopher’s stone, where as in D. Gray-man, humans are used to make “akuma” – demons that work for the main villain, the Millennium Earl.
