Meito
Meito is a term used to refer to all sorts of weapons, not just katanas, that have been given a name.
A named sword or weapon is usually a legendary item with superior build quality. They are a cut above the rest when it comes to their historic significance. After all, not every weapon is worthy of getting a name, unless there is something great about them.
Famous people around the world have used these Meito swords. They have survived the harshest conditions that any weapon could handle.
This is why the Meito swords are a treasure. They are also one of the deadliest weapons in the One Piece world.
One of the mysterious things about a few of the Meito blades is that they “choose their user.”
Which means, in the hands of the wrong person, it might cost them their life. However, in the right hands, it will be the greatest weapon that will bring fame to the swordsman and itself.
Such difficult-to-wield swords are known as “cursed swords.” So far, Zoro has wielded the most Meito swords, with a grand total of seven blades.

12 Supreme Grade Blades
As the name suggests, these are the strongest and most powerful blades in the entire one-piece world. They have a top-tier build quality showing that they are a result of brilliant craftmanship.
These are the highest grade swords that can cut or endure almost anything. These swords never break.
Only the strongest of men have used these twelve supreme grade swords. For example, Mihawk, White Beard, and Gold Roger all wielded one of the 12 supreme grade swords.
21 Great Grade Blades
The next level of swords, right below the supreme grade, is the “great grade” blades. There are a total of twenty one great grade swords in the One Piece world.
While these blades may be second to the supreme grade swords in terms of quality and history, they can stand up to the supreme grade swords in the hands of a skillful swordsman.
We only know the names of a few great grade swords, and Zoro has wielded most of them.
Some famous great grade swords are Enma, Sushi, and Wado Ichimonji, all swords used by Zoro.
50 Skillful Grade Blades
The third grade of swords is the skillful grade. The skillful grade blades can’t hold a candle compared to the above two grades, but they are far better than your average swords.
While these swords are fast and quite easy to wield, they are not the strongest blades, nor do they have an indestructible build quality.
This is evident when one of Zoro’s skillful grade swords, Yubashiri, broke during a battle.
Currently, we only know the names of three swords in this grade, of which Tashigi owns two of them.
Grade Blades
Grade Blades are the lowest class of Meito swords. They have poor build quality compared to the other grades, but they are still stronger than your average blade.
We also don’t have a specific number on the total number of Grade Blades available.
Unknown Grade
Unknown Grade Blades are swords that have a name but do not have a specific grade assigned.
They are either newly made or old swords that could fall under any of the above mentioned categories. Some of the popular unknown grade swords are wielded by Shanks, Brook, Franky, Killer, and others.
List Of All Zoro’s Swords
Unnamed Dual Katanas
At the beginning, Zoro did not have any Meito swords. He was using regular swords that get broken easily.
These unnamed dual katana were forged by Shimotsuki Kozaburo, a legendary swordsmith who has crafted two great grade swords.
Zoro received these katanas from him during his childhood as they were acquainted with each other. Shimotsuki Kozaburo was the father of Zoro’s master and the grandfather of his deceased childhood rival, Kuina.

Yubashiri – Ipponmatsu family’s treasure
Yubashiri is one of the 50 skillful grade swords. It was given to Zoro as a gift by the Ipponmatsu after seeing his sword skills.
Later on, during the Enies Lobby Arc, this sword was destroyed. It turned into a rusty mess after an encounter with a marine captain named “Shu” who had the devil fruit power to cause rust.
Shusui – Wano Legend’s Blade
Shusui is a very powerful obsidian black blade that belongs to the 21 great grade swords. Ryuma from the Wano kingdom originally wielded this sword.
Gecko Moria stole this sword along with Ryuma’s body in order to create a zombie.
Later, after an intense showdown with Ryuma’s zombie, Ryuma handed Shusui to Zoro as a prize for defeating him.
However, during the Wano arc, it was stolen once again and returned to the grave of the original wielder, Ryuma. Zoro let it be and replaced it with Enma.
Wado Ichimonji – First Grade Blade Of Zoro
Wado Ichimonji was one of the first swords Zoro ever used. After his childhood rival, Kuina’s death, it was handed to Zoro.
It is a great grade sword that didn’t break after Zoro’s fight with Mihawk, showing the quality of the sword. Whereas, the rest of his swords were broken during the fight.
The legendary blacksmith from Wano, Shimotsuki Kozaburo, forged this masterpiece.
Sandai Kitetsu – Zoro’s Cursed Sword
Sandai Kitetsu is another of the swords Zoro obtained from Ipponmatsu, a shop owner in Loguetown. It is one of the grade blades.
It is a cursed sword that is fabled to take the life of its own wielder. Therefore, nobody ever dares to hold, or even sell, them.
However, only a select few people with extreme luck can overcome this curse, and it was Zoro in this case. Zoro bet his arm to find out if he could overcome the curse and win.
Enma – Latest Sword Of Zoro
Enma is the most recent sword that Zoro acquired in the land of Wano. It is one of the twenty one great grade swords.
The legendary samurai, Oden, wielded this blade before his death.
Later on, as a compensation for returning Ryuma’s sword to his grave, Oden’s daughter gave Zoro this legendary blade.
Enma is a special sword that draws a massive amount of Busoshoku Haki from its wielder. This is why Zoro had trouble wielding this sword at first. However, he mastered it very quickly.
