Jojo’s bizarre adventure has a pretty unique art style. I’m pretty sure no other anime has ever had the same art style as Jojo. But there are a few anime with Art style pretty similar to that of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
When I say art style, I’m talking about the muscular body of the characters, the realistic character design and the color schemes.
Unlike most anime where the characters have big eyes and disproportional mouth with no nose and a line for lips, the following anime have a pretty realistic design.
Remember that the following is the list of “anime with similar art style to Jojo” and not “anime like Jojo.” That is, they necessarily don’t share a similar plot with Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Top 6 Anime with similar art style like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
6. Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor
This one is a bit of a stretch. Okay. Too big of a stretch, but there are few similar points in Kaiji’s art style and Jojo’s art style. Not to mention this is one of those 3D CGI anime.
As the name suggests, this anime is all about gambling. After being betrayed by his former co-worker, Kaiji, the main protagonist, has to take part in illegal underground gambling to pay-off his friend’s massive debt.
5. Hellsing ultimate
Hellsing Ultimate has a convincingly similar art style to Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Other than the art style this anime has one other thing in common with Jojo’s Bizarre adventure (phantom blood to be specific)– they’re both about vampires.
Hellsing Ultimate is a vampire hunting anime which features the fan favorite antihero vampire– Alucard! (Yup, he’s ranked above Dio on the MAL’s Most Popular Characters list)
It also has some of the most brutal fight scenes ever!!
4. Sakigake!! Otokojuku
Quite a few old anime had these buff, muscular characters in them and Sakigake is one of them. The old Jojo had a similar art style to this series.
This is a pretty old anime which was released in 1988. So don’t expect much in terms of animation / story.
Sakigake!! Otokojuku is about the lives of juvenile delinquents who knows nothing but fighting. All it matters to them is to become the most MANLIEST person of their school.
3. Toriko
Toriko’s character design screams Jojo. Those sharp eyes, that muscular neck and ripped shoulder blades, those wonderful blue hair- all of these are similar to the art style of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
This anime has a pretty wild world where everything is related to food! The mountains, the volcanoes and literally every other natural landscape holds some key Gourmet ingredients. And Gourmet hunters from all over the world adventure to collect these rare ingredients to make some delicious dishes.
2. Berserk
Whenever we think about anime like Jojo, I’m pretty sure everyone would think about Berserk at one point. This is another anime with a masculine, muscular main protagonist.
Berserk tells the dark and tragic story of a young mercenary named Guts who makes a living on the battlefield. On a path to finding a purpose to his life, Guts comes across this charismatic leader of a mercenary group and decides to join them. This sets him off to experience some beautiful friendship, love and tragedy filled adventures.
The manga of this series is hailed to be one of the best manga EVER and the anime adaptations pales in comparison to it no matter what. At least, that’s what ALL the manga readers say. So I recommend reading the manga.
If you’re an anime only watcher, then watch Kenpuu Denki Berserk (the older anime adaptation) as it is better than the new ones.
1. Fist of the north star
Since Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has clearly taken some inspiration from Fist of the North star, this anime deserves a place in this listing.
After being betrayed and forsaken, Kenshirou wanders the post apocalyptic wastelands in order to find Shin– the man who kidnapped Kenshirou’s fiancee.
Being the successor of Hokuto Shinken fighting technique, Kenshirou has to fight his way through and save the person whom he cares for the most!
Here’s a little Bonus:
Kongou Bancho (manga)
Kongoh bancho has not gotten an anime adaptation yet, but as you can see (from the above image), it has some seriously cool muscular characters.
Akira Kongou a.k.a the “Diamond Delinquent” after transferring into a new school becomes it’s gang leader in no time. He has to fight other delinquents and bullies from the neighboring schools in the school backyard turf wars.
This is somewhat similar to Sakigake!! Otokojuku and is a treat for those who love some brawny action!
