Trapped in a Dating Sim fans eagerly await Season 2’s release date announcement. Hold on to your hearts as it will be aired soon. Details are still fresh, but Kadokawa has some exciting news. Here’s everything you need to know.
Yomu Mishima and Monda authored the Japanese light novel series “Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs” (Japanese: Hepburn: Otomeg Sekai wa Mobu ni Kibishii Sekai Desu). It was an online novel on Shsetsuka ni Nar from October 1, 2017, to October 15, 2019, with seven sections and 176 chapters.
On May 30, 2018, Micro Magazine published it as a light novel under GC Novels. On October 5, 2018, the manga adaptation by Jun Shiosato debuted in serial form under Dragon Comics Age by Fujimi Shobo. Both English-language versions are published by Seven Seas Entertainment. Studio ENGI’s anime adaptation of the novel’s story aired from April to June 2022.
The anime condensed the plot to fit into a single episode, leaving out the protagonist’s family history and some worldbuilding. However, these details were revealed through flashbacks.
Trapped In A Dating Sim Season 2: Expected Release Date
ENGI announced on December 26th, 2022, that Trapped in a Dating Sim will have a second season in production. However, we don’t have the exact release date just yet.
Directed by Shin’ichi Fukumoto and Kazuya Miura, it will air on Tokyo MX, AT-X, Crunchyroll, and Ytv. Since the production has been confirmed, the show is expected to premiere in late 2023 or early 2024.
Either way, we are getting a sequel for sure. It is just a matter of when the studio will finish the production and get ready to air the series.
Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?
Since MobSeka second season’s adaptation has been announced, it is very clear that there is more than enough source material for a sequel.
The anime’s season one adapted the first 2 volumes of the light novel. So, the upcoming season 2 of Trapped in a Dating Sim will adapt the volumes 3 and 4. That is, if it continues with the same pace.
Currently, there are total of 12 volumes as of August 2023, which is enough to adapt another 4 or more seasons.
If you can’t wait for the anime, then I recommend start reading the light novel from Volume 3, all the way upto Volume 7. You can buy the light novel on the Seven Seas Entertainment’s official website.

Which Studio Will Adapt The MobSeka Sequel?
While it has been confirmed that Kodakawa will produce the second season of MobSeka, the animation studio has not been confirmed yet. However, since studio ENGI took care of the first season, we can expect them to continue the adaptation.
Trapped in a dating sim is one of ENGI’s top rated anime titles, so there is no reason for them to not animate its sequel. With their knowledge in the source material and expertise in animation, I’m sure the 2nd season will be a hit!
Trapped In A Dating Sim Season 2 Plot
Trapped In A Dating Sim Season 2 follows a man who dies and reincarnates after being blackmailed by his sister into playing a game. In his new life as the third son of a baron in a matriarchal society, he realizes his sister’s involvement in a dating simulation game.
When faced with a forced marriage proposal, he devises a plan to make money and avoid it. Using his knowledge of the game, he becomes an explorer and enrolls in an academy, leading to unexpected adventures. This story surpasses expectations and is not a typical reverse harem or dating sim tale.
In the final episode of Trapped In A Dating Sim, Marie devises a plan to become the main protagonist. She aims to remove Leon from the picture and fulfill her desires within the game. Marie possesses one of the Heavenly objects that can awaken the Protagonist’s true powers. While these objects belong to Olivia, Marie might attempt to obtain the remaining two.
