Ranking Of Kings Season 2 Potential Release Date

What Will Ousama Ranking Season 2 Be About?
The season one ended with Bojji giving up on being the king of his father’s kingdom. He set out on a journey to build his own kingdom from scratch, just like his father, King Bosse, did. So, if we get a season 2, it will mostly be about Bojji’s adventure along with Kage into unknown lands and his rise as a leader of his own nation. As such, I don’t think we will be seeing much of other popular characters like Daida and Desha in S2.
I know some of you might be confused right now because Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage just finished airing in June 2023. Is that not the part 2 of Ousama ranking? Well, yeah, it is not a sequel to the story. It is more of a side story that is full of content that the initial season skipped from the manga.
We also have an Ousama Ranking Movie coming up, but that will not continue the story either.
So, the actual 2nd season will be the one to continue where the season one’s story left off. But the adaptation might take a little bit longer because of the source material, which we will be discussing below.
Is There Enough Ranking of Kings Manga Source Material for Season Two?
The main factor that will determine when the second season of Ousama Ranking drops is the availability of manga content. After all, if there isn’t enough story to cover, the adaptation won’t be possible.
Unfortunately, there is not enough manga chatpers to produce a 23-episode sequel. As of June 2023, there are a total of 199 chapters in the manga. Out of which, 155 chapters were covered in the anime’s season 1 and the side story sequel, “Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage“.
If the second season were to go at the same pace as the first, covering the same number of episodes, then we would need at least 300 chapters to get another adaptation.
However, if the sequel were to have only 10 episodes, then we would have the bare minimum of source material for an adaptation.

Which Chapters Will Be Covered In The Anime’s Sequel?
The season 1 of the anime ended with Chapter 155. However, it skipped through several parts of the story. These skilled portions were covered in the Treasure Chest of Courage series. The upcoming movie is also tagged as “other” in MyAnimeList instead of “sequel”. So, it will probably not continue the story.
If that is the case, then season 2 of the ranking of kings will start from chapter 156 and cover all the way to chapter 300 or so. At this point in time, we only barely have 200 chapters. So if the studio decides to release a 10 or 12-episode series, then it will cover up to chapter 200 or so.

Wit Studio has been doing an amazing job with the anime adaptation. The season one and the side story sequel were handled by Wit Studio. It is most likely that the upcoming movie will also be taken care of by them.
So, we can expect the same production company to handle the second season of Ousama Ranking’s anime adaptation.
