On July 13, 2023, the anime’s official website and accounts shared exciting news. The long-awaited second season, announced in September 2021, is set for two consecutive cours starting in January 2024. Alongside this announcement, a teaser visual, a trailer, and a significant production staff update were unveiled.

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Season 2 Release Date
The announcement of Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu’s second installment was made in September 2021. After that, we barely heard any news about the show until this July.
On July 13, 2023, the release date of Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy was confirmed to be January 2024. While we don’t know the exact date, we know for sure that the sequel will air in Winter 2024, starting in January and possibly until April.
Is there Enough Source Material For A Sequel?
Yes, there is more than enough source material to produce a 24 episode sequel. Since it has been announced that the next season will occur in two parts, we can assume that each part will have 12 or 13 episodes.
The ongoing light novel series has a total of 18 volumes as of August 2023. If the next season follows the same pace as the first one, then the adaptation will cover chapters 5–12 or 13 of the novel.
Overall, source material is not a problem for the renewal, which is why the production was confirmed.
Which Studio Will Animate The Sequel?
The first season of Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy was handled by C2C Studios. Most fans expected the same studio to take care of the upcoming season.
However, it turns out C2C will be handing down the adaptation work to J.C. Staff. This is clearly an upgrade because J.C. Staff is a much more reputed and popular studio compared to C2C.
So, we can expect even better animation quality in 2nd season compared to the first season.
What Will Happen In Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Season 2?
In the Season 1 finale of “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy,” Makoto confronts and defeats Sofia Bulga, a formidable adventurer, and Mitsurugi, a dragon. These two surprisingly join the demon army’s mission to wipe out humanity. Makoto intervenes, possibly aligning with the unkind goddess who summoned him.
The goddess sees Makoto as a rival due to his growing power, and her intentions are unclear. Despite this, Makoto continues building his village and connecting with humans in Tomoe’s dimension. Season 2 will reveal whether Makoto achieves his goals.
“Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” is based on Kei Azumi’s light novel series. Season 2 might cover Makoto’s enrollment at Rotsgard Academy, his journey to becoming a respected teacher, and the school festival’s fighting tournament. There will also be a promising and humor-filled twist in the story’s continuation.
Which Light Novel Volumes Will Be Covered In The Next Season?
Season 2 of Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- is expected to pick up from the first season’s end, adapting from the fifth light novel volume.
Since the first season adapted four volumes, we can expect the second season of Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy to adapt until volume eight of the Light Novel in cour one. If it follows the same pace, the adaptation will probably cover until volume 12 of the light novel in cour two.
In total, combining cours one and two, we can expect season 2 to continue the story from volume 5 all the way until the 12th volume.
