What is Naruto?

Naruto

Before we start, there might be some greenies out there who don’t know what Naruto actually is and why people who love anime love it.

The Naruto series is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name, which was written by Masashi Kishimoto. The manga had 700 chapters spread across 72 volumes in total. Naruto pioneered the Shounen tropes that we see now. The flashbacks during fights, the power of friendship, and even the teams where it’s always 2 boys and 1 girl.

After the manga series was adapted, Naruto quickly became popular. The series became a staple in Asian households and was even one of the first anime to attract the attention of western audiences. In 2015, there were over 200 million copies of the manga sold in all four corners of the globe.

The Plot

So now that you know what Naruto is, you might be thinking to yourself, “What’s it all about?

Naruto follows the story of Naruto Uzamaki, an aspiring shinobi from the Hidden Leaf Village, or Konoha. Naruto, despite all the discrimination he gets from the villagers, wants to become the Hokage, the highest ranking shinobi in Konoha.

While training, he meets new people that believe in him or get in his way. He joins a team called “Team 7” with Sasuke, the last Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Together, these 3 go on missions while they’re being guided by their sensei, Kakashi.

We follow Naruto’s journey as he does his best, throwing blood, sweat, and tears at the dream he fights so hard to achieve. A boy who’s thrown aside by the village, with a heart bigger than his ambition.
