It’s almost 2024, and we still don’t have any news about Mayo Chiki Season 2. Fans have been waiting for over 16 years for the sequel, but the producers do not seem to have an idea of renewing the show.

Mayo Chiki is a Japanese anime based on Hajime Asano’s light novel. It premiered on July 7, 2007, and has 13 episodes. IMDb rates it 7/10. The series blends comedy, drama, and more, following Kinjiro’s discovery of Subaru’s secret. Now, Kinjiro must decide whether to protect Subaru’s secret with the help of others.
Mayo Chiki Season 2 Release Date & Renewal Status
‘Mayo Chiki’ Season 1 aired from July 8 to September 30, 2011, with 13 episodes. Fans have been eagerly waiting for over a decade for the sequel. There is even an ongoing petition for Mayo Chiki 2 which shows that the fans have not given up yet.
However, despite all that, there is no word on Season 2. This is because the blu-ray sales haven’t been good enough to support a sequel.
So, it is best not to expect more for now. If a new season happens, great! But the chances are that Mayo Chiki will never return with a sequel. After all, it’s already been 16 years, and the demand for the series is slowly dying.

Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?
The anime is based on a light novel of the same name. The Mayo Chiki LN series started on November 21, 2009, and ended on July 23, 2012. It has a total of 12 chapters, out of which only the first couple of books were adapted into anime.
Mayo Chiki also has a manga adaptation, which has also completed publishing. It has a total of nine volumes, including the “Mayo Mayo!” manga book series.
Season 1 of the anime only covered the story until Volume 3, Chapter 18 of the manga. So, there is ample source material for season 2 of Mayo Chiki.

What Will Happen In Mayo Chiki Season 2?
‘Mayo Chiki!’ follows Kinjirou Sakamachi, who’s developed a tough body due to his family’s love for wrestling, but it’s led to gynophobia. Even a girl’s touch makes his nose bleed.
One day, he encounters Subaru Konoe, the school principal’s daughter, whom everyone mistakes for a male butler. She surprises Kinjirou in the restroom, and they strike a deal: Kinjirou keeps her secret, and she helps him conquer his fear of women. This sets the stage for their high school adventure.
Season 1 left us hanging about where their relationships were heading. So, in season 2, we might get to see the characters grow closer in a romantic way. Of course, there will be a ton of hilarious moments, along with fanservice and ecchi scenes.

Which Studio Will Animate The Next Season?
Studio Feel is a fairly big Japanese animation company that has animated over 70 shows so far. This studio was responsible for the first season of Mayo Chiki.
They specialize in Rom-com and harem shows like Oregairu, Kiss x Sis, and Yosuga no Sora.
They did a good job adapting the story without changing much. So, fans would be more than happy to have the same studio animating the sequel.
However, this has not been officially announced yet. Once the renewal is greenlit, the studio details will be announced.

Where Can I Watch Mayo Chiki Season 2?
Currently, Mayo Chiki 1 is only available to stream on HiDive. However, the same might not be true for season 2. From time to time we’ve seen that sequels, if they become popular, might be made available on more streaming platforms.
That said, it is guaranteed that HiDive will update the new episodes once the second season of Mayo Chiki releases.
You can also buy the Blu-ray disc from the official website and watch the show offline. Blu-ray releases are made a little after the anime finishes airing, so you will not be able to watch weekly episodes. On the other hand, you’ll be able to binge it all in one go, so it is worth it!
