Hello and welcome to Anime Everything Online. Today’s article is going to be about all the androids in DBZ. Dragon Ball Z is the most popular and successful series in the Dragon Ball franchise. With its outstanding characters, this series establishes its global popularity.
Early on in the saga, Androids were one of the key factors in making the series more interesting and remarkable. They were the most difficult adversary for Goku and his team to deal with at that time.
Androids first appeared in DBZ Episode 126. They covered a total of 69 episodes of the show, ranging from Episode 126 to Episode 194. They have extraordinary strength and a wide range of abilities. Each of them has their own personality and frame of mind. Later, some of them rose to prominence as supporting characters in the most recent Dragon Ball Super series.
Who are the Androids in DBZ?
Androids are artificial warriors with a wide range of abilities and powers. They were created by Dr. Gero, the head scientist of the Red Ribbon Army. He is a brilliant scientist with a wealth of scientific knowledge and technological skills. He had a strong hatred for Goku because, in his childhood, Goku had single handedly crushed the entire army for their evil doings. That’s why he started to create androids, bio-androids, and cyborgs to kill Goku and restore his army.
Dr. Gero first created fully artificial androids and labeled them with numbers ranging from 1 to 7 and 9 to 12. However, due to some technical issues and hesitancy, he couldn’t control their personalities, so he discarded and destroyed them all on his own.
After a long period of work, he finally created androids with human appearances and personalities. Cell and the other androids numbered 13 to 20 are his best creations. In order to become immortal, he also transformed himself into an android and numbered himself 20.

Most of the fans only know about some of them because of their more frequent screen time. However, some androids don’t get much screen time, and most of them are only seen in flashbacks. In this article, I have provided you with the best list of all the Androids in Dragon Ball Z.
So, without any further delay, let’s go to the list of all the Androids in the DBZ series.

After that, he was also briefly seen in the Dragon Ball movie, “The Path to Power.”
Android 8 is very kind-hearted and peaceful compared to other androids. His personality is completely different because of his technical faults in his programming. Ninja Murasaki is the one who activates him to fight Goku in the Muscle Tower. But he completely disobeyed him as he didn’t want to get involved in any type of violence against anyone.
Android 8 has a high level of physical strength, along with a device that helps him fly. His most well-known battle was against General White. In this fight, he defeated him with his powerful punches.
Androids 9 through 12

His demeanor is peaceful and kind, and he has a strong affinity for nature and humanity. He doesn’t intend to fight against anyone except Goku because of his technical program to kill him.
Dr. Gero experimentally created him and gave him the same appearance as his dead son, Gebo. Android 16 shares an excellent bond of brotherhood with Android 17. His physical strength and powers are the same as those of the Imperfect Cell. He put up a tough fight against him by using a synthetic form of eye laser, the Eye Beam. He also gave him his powerful torture hold, “Bear Hug.”
His most powerful attack is the Rocket Punch, in which he launches his arm like a rocket toward Cell. After hitting Cell, it exploded and did huge damage to him, but unfortunately, it failed to defeat Cell.

After that, he served as one of the supporting characters in the latest Dragon Ball Super series. Lapis was his original human name, and he lived happily with his twin sister, Lazuli (Android 18). But, Dr. Gero kidnapped them and transformed them into androids known as Android 17 and Android 18.
Android 17 is a slim, attractive man of medium height. He possessed a peaceful, selfless, and adventurous personality. He had a lot of stamina and a high recovery rate because of his endless supply of energy.
Android 17 gave a toe-to-toe fight against Piccolo, who is fused with Kami. Later in the series, he is absorbed by the cell and killed by Gohan. However, he reappears in the most recent season and is given greater screen time.
In Dragon Ball Super, he works as a park ranger and happily lives with his wife and children. His demeanour shifted to one of serenity and gentleness. He is currently the strongest android in the series and is also stronger than his sister, Android 18. He also participated in the Tournament of Power with a team from Universe 7.
In the tournament, he knocked out many opponents, such as Dyrasem, Bikal, Kakunsa, Roasie, Biarra, and so on. He also gave tough fights to powerful opponents such as Agnilasa, Toppo, and Jiren. In the end, he became the winner of this tournament and got a wish from the Super Dragon Balls.
Android 18 – Most popular of all female Androids in DBZ
Android 18 is the only female android in the Dragon Ball franchise. She was first introduced as a villain in the Android Saga in Dragon Ball Z. But later, she changed from evil to good and became a member of Goku’s team. She married a human, Krillin, and had a daughter, Marron, with him. Her original human name is Lazuli, and she is the older sister of Android 17.
Android 18 is a gorgeous woman with a lovely curvy figure. Her skin was fair, and her hair was short and blonde. Her demeanor is confident, with a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure.
Android 18’s first fight was against Vegeta’s Super Saiyan, in which she quickly defeated him with her incredible power. With her single kick, she easily breaks Vegeta’s arm and is able to block Trunks’s sword with her wrist. She is able to grow her skills and battle power through training because of her human based model.
In Dragon Ball Super, she demonstrates her power by kicking Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue Kamehameha away. She also participated in the Tournament of Power in Universe 7. In the tournament, she simultaneously eliminated Prum and Jimizu from the arena. She gave a tough fight to Ribrianne, Kakunsa, and Rozie because of her continuous and infinite supply of energy. She also successfully eliminated this powerful trio from Universe 2 from the tournament.
Android 18 had a powerful energy-based attack called “Destructo Disc,” which she used in the battle. This attack is seen as a razor-sharp disc and is capable of slicing through nearly any opponent. The Infinity Bullet is her most formidable attack, and it consists of numerous energy spheres of pink color. She continuously blasts at the opponents, which inflicts great damage on them.
Android 19
Android 19 is not particularly powerful, but he is extremely intelligent. He had a very fatty body and blue eyes. Dr. Gero experimentally created him by using synthetic technology. He is devoted to Dr. Gero and obeys all of his commands. He is overconfident in his abilities and places far too much reliance on data and technology.
Android 19 shows his keen intelligence by converting Dr. Gero’s brain into an android body. He holds a special ability called “Life Drain 19”, which helps him absorb energy from anyone and make his own. He is best known for his fight against Vegeta, in which he used this ability to defeat him. But he couldn’t handle Vegeta’s Super Saiyan and felt fear from him, despite being a machine. Lastly, he was killed by the Big Bang attack of Vegeta, even after absorbing energy from him.
Android 20 – Smartest of all Androids in DBZ
Android 20 is basically a mechanical version of Dr. Gero. He served as the main villain in the Android Saga of Dragon Ball Z. His demeanour is nasty and cold-hearted. Android 20 has a vast amount of scientific knowledge and technological skills. In terms of power, he is stronger than Android 19. He defeated Krillin with ease and gave a tough fight to Gohan and Tien Shin Han. But he is not able to handle Vegeta’s Super Saiyan and runs away from the battle. He also believes that if he absorbs energy from Gohan, Tien, Piccolo, and Krillin, then he will be able to defeat Vegeta.
His greatest assets are his sharp mind and extensive knowledge of technology. He is the creator of all the Androids, Bio-Androids, and Cyborgs in the franchise. His most successful and powerful creation is Cell, who has absorbed the power of all the powerful warriors of Earth.
Cell – Strongest of all Androids in DBZ
Cell is the ultimate and perfect android creation of Dr. Gero. He was created with the help of a supercomputer using the genetic cells of the strongest warrior on Earth. His genetic structure includes DNA from Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, and King Cold. He served as the main villain in the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z.
Cell has numerous different appearances and powers depending on his forms. He resembles a grasshopper in its larval stage, with four legs and two horns. He possessed a humanoid appearance and a pair of wings in his perfect form. His personality is very unique due to his mix of traits from other people. His cunning comes from Piccolo, his pride from Vegeta, his psychopathy from Frieza, and his desire to fight comes from Saiyan. As a result, he is a calm, intelligent individual with a bit of arrogance.
Cell, in his imperfect form, demonstrated his power in the fight against Piccolo, who was fused with Kami. In this fight, he easily defeated him and absorbed his energy. After that, he defeated and absorbed all three of the androids (16, 17, and 18) in order to transform into perfect form. He also defeated Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks in the Cell Games. His fight against Gohan’s Super Saiyan is one of the most popular fights in the series. In this fight, he gave a toe-to-toe fight and came close to defeating him. However, he was unable to withstand the power of Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 and was defeated by him.
Cell’s most potent ability is his capacity to absorb energy from anyone and other androids. He can use Goku’s Kamehameha and Vegeta’s Big Bang attacks to a greater extent. His regeneration capacity is incredibly great, allowing him to quickly recover and regenerate from near-death situations.
