Devils Line Season 2 Release Date & Status

Fans eagerly await the season 2 announcement, but there has been no word from the anime’s creators. The first season aired in 2018, and it has already been five years, which is concerning.

After rumors about a sequel a few years ago, there has been silence about the second season.

Season one’s 12 episodes portrayed a human-vampire love story and aired in Japan, on Hulu, and on Netflix. Now, in 2023, fans are eager to watch more about Anzai and Tsukasa.

The good thing is that the Studio hasn’t canceled the series, offering hope. So we might be able to see the anime’s finale sometime in the future.

Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?

Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?

For a new anime season, having enough manga content is crucial. In the case of Devils Line, this requirement is met.

The manga spans 14 volumes, but the anime has covered them until volume 8. If the anime follows the same pace as season 1 there might not be enough content for a 12 episode anime. However, there is enough source material for a sequel of 10 episodes or so.

Although the original manga concluded in 2018, only eight volumes were adapted into the anime. This leaves potential for another season.

Fortunately, there’s more good news. A sequel manga, “Devils’ Line II: Gyakushū,” authored and illustrated by Ryo Hanada, the creator of the original manga, debuted on January 20, 2022.

In the same magazine, Kodansha is publishing this new series. It is still ongoing and has a total of 3 Volumes so far in August 30, 2023.

“Devils’ Line” fans can rejoice as there’s more manga content to adapt. Season 2 picks up after Tsukasa and Anzai’s split, attempting to avoid each other for safety. Despite their efforts, circumstances and love draw them back together.

Anzai’s shift from detective status makes him a prime target for both anti-vampire humans and vengeful vampires from his past cases. Both groups question his loyalty because he is a hybrid, which makes enemies.

Additionally, new episodes delve into Anzai’s journey to understand his transformation and control it around Tsukasa. He uncovers information about fellow hybrids and unusual cases, alleviating his loneliness. Despite trying to stay apart, Tsukasa and Anzai’s love deepens, leading them back together.

Which Studio Will Animate The Next Season?

In case “Devils’ Line: Season 2” gets approved, all attention will focus on previous producers and studio involvement. Kodansha and King Records were in charge of Season 1’s production, with Platinum Vision handling the animations.

Kodansha, known for large, high-budget anime, has a history dating back to 1909 and is behind hits like Attack On Titan, Tokyo Revengers, and Fairy Tail.

King Records, active since 1951, specializes in slice-of-life comedy anime, including Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, Sakamoto Desu Ga?, and Azumanga Daioh.

Platinum Vision, established in 2016, is relatively young, having animated around 11 shows so far in 2023. Some of their works include Kono Oto Tomare!, Servamp, and Koroshi Ai, as listed on MyAnimeList.
