Is Dakaichi Season 2 ever going to be released? Fans have been eagerly waiting for updates, but the lack of official news has led to speculation and concerns. The show is based on Boys Love (yaoi) which is pretty eccentric nowadays. It has been five years since season one aired, and we still don’t have a confirmation for renewal. The Yaoi romance manga series “Dakaichi – I’m Being Harassed By The Sexiest Man Of The Year” started publication in July 2013. The Japanese studio CloverWorks produced its first season of Hashigo Sakurabi’s BL work, which premiered on October 6, 2018. Fans have been waiting for Dakaichi Season 2, but with no luck.

Dakaichi Season 2 Release Date & Status
CloverWorks or related companies haven’t renewed Dakaichi’s second season. No official release dates for Dakaichi 2 have been released either.
The first season aired from October 6 to December 29, 2018, with 13 episodes. It also got a movie sequel, which premiered on October 9, 2021. Yoshimi Narita rewrote the screenplay, which Naoyuki Tatsuwa directed. Minako Shiba and Senri Kawaguchi return as character designers. Aniplex handled distribution, with Masaru Yokoyama’s music composition.
This movie adapts the Spain Arc from Hashigo Sakurabi’s original eight-volume manga series, ongoing since 2013. Despite the show’s success, no second season has been announced yet.
Don’t worry, though. CloverWorks has taken up to five years to renew certain shows, so there is still hope. Also, there is not enough manga content to adapt just yet. The author publishes one volume a year, so it will probably take a few years until we see Dakaichi on screens again. What’s more? The author has not published any new volumes since 2021, which is concerning.
Therefore, Dakaichi’s second season might be released sometime in 2026, given that the author publishes volumes 9, 10, and 11 by 2025. We’ll update this article when there’s news.
Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?
No, there is not enough source material for Dakaichi season 2. The first installment of the show adapted the first five volumes of the manga. The sequel movie adapted the sixth volume.
Currently, in 2023, we only have eight volumes in total. The mangaka has a very slow rate of releasing new volumes. We only get one new volume a year, which further delays the release of a new season.
Another concerning factor is that the mangaka has not published new volumes after 2021. We did not get any updates in the past two years, which is a bad sign for the anime’s renewal.
What Will Dakaichi Season 2 Be About?
In season 1, the show focused on Takato Saijo, five-time “Sexiest Man of the Year,” dethroned by newcomer Junta Azumaya. Junta blackmails Takato, leading to a complex relationship. Junta’s devotion grows over time.
Then, in the 2021 movie, we saw Takato Saijou and Junta Azumaya team up again. Their task: a flamenco duel in a play. Takato aims to surpass Junta by learning flamenco in Spain from Ceres, a skilled dancer. Trouble brews as Junta arrives, unveiling new challenges, including a love rival named Antonio.
Season 2 will continue the story and pick up the story from Volume 7. It may also cover any skipped parts from the sixth volume.
Which Studio Will Animate The Sequel?
Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu season 1 and movie 1 were the work of CloverWorks. For those who don’t know, they are a very famous Japanese animation studio with a great reputation.
They have been responsible for famous titles such as Bunny Girl Senpai, Promised Neverland, and Spy x Family. Most of the shows they’ve worked on almost always get a sequel from them. So, CloverWorks will undoubtedly adapt Dakaichi season 2 themselves.

Which Manga Volumes Will Be Covered In Season 2?
The first season and the sequel movie of Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu covered volumes 1-6. So, the next season will most likely continue the story from the seventh volume.
Currently, we only have eight volumes in total, and the author has yet to release the ninth volume. For season 2 to be adapted, we need the mangaka to publish till the tenth or eleventh volume to get approved for renewal.
Unless we get new volumes, there is no way to produce another 12- to 13-episode season.

The first season of Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu is available to watch on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Wakanim. Since these companies have the license to publish Dakaichi seasons on their platforms, we can expect the second season to be updated in their libraries when it releases.
