Anime Filler Episodes of Popular Series

What’s a filler episode?

An anime filler episode is created when a particular episode is in the anime series but is not found in the manga series. So to let the manga series catchup, filler episodes are created.

Now let’s move on to the famous and on-demand anime series and which of their episodes are fillers.

Naruto

Naruto narrates the story of a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki from the fictional village of Konohagakure. He fights for the acceptance of his fellow villagers because of the Nine-Tails fox hidden deep inside him since birth by his father. Halfway through his quest, he works hard to achieve the village leader’s status by becoming a Hokage.

Though it is famous globally, it gained popularity in North America due to its run on Cartoon Network’s Toonami, which began in 2005. While the 220 episodes original Naruto anime series aired from 2002 to 2007. Having 96 anime-only episodes during the series run, Naruto is 44% filler.

Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball, which first aired in the 1980s, is an anime based on the classic anime created by Akira Toriyama and published in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series leads its viewers through Goku’s adventures, a young monkey-tailed boy who is on a quest to collect seven dragon balls, which will grant him wishes.

The 153 episodes original Dragon Ball anime series aired from 1986 to 1989. With 23 anime-only episodes during the series run, Dragon Ball is 15% filler.

Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail: Final Season | Anime-Planet

Fairy Tail leads us through the exploits of a well-known guild of wizards in the world of Earth-land. Throughout the series, Natsu Dragneel, the protagonist of the series, teams up with other wizards as part of the Fairy Tail guild as they go on unusual yet fantastic missions to battle ancient demons, thwart criminals and help Natsu find his adoptive father Igneel the dragon.

The series has aired since 2009, and as of June 2020,328 episodes have been broadcast. With 66 of the episodes being anime-only, Fairy Tail is 22% filler.

One Piece

One Piece is a currently running manga and anime series. The anime series of One Piece started in 1999 and followed the epic adventures of an aspiring pirate, Monkey D. Luffy, who, in search of the legendary treasure known as ‘One Piece,’ sets off across the East Blue Sea.

Halfway through his journey, he is joined by several travelers like him, including Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Vinsmoke Sanji, and many more notable characters. As of June 2020, 932 episodes have been broadcast.

With 107 of the episodes being anime-only, One Piece is 12% filler.
