But there is one other thing that they love: a new season. After enjoying two seasons of rom-com goodness, there are rumors about Quintessential Quintuplets Season 3 that fans are excited about.
The manga of the series has wrapped up, and a movie covered a lot of ground. Yet, a surprise teaser on April 1st announced “Quintessential Quintuplets: Season 3.” But why another season after the seemingly conclusive movie? Well, sadly, that was just an April Fool’s prank.

Quintessential Quintuplets Season 3 Release Date & Status
As of September 2023, ‘Quintessential Quintuplets’ awaits Season 3 confirmation. There was a fake rumor that started as an April Fool’s prank and gave false hope to fans.
The movie that followed Season 2 in May 2022 pretty much ended the anime adaptation. That said, there are a few more chapters left unadapted that might be made into the third season.
But honestly, since the movie ended most of the story, there is very little chance of getting a new sequel. There were a lot of pacing issues with the adaptations, so maybe they will be able to compile the missed parts into an OVA at the very least.
Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?
Let’s dig into the source material. The manga, with 122 chapters in 14 volumes, ended in 2020. Season 1 covered the first 32 manga chapters, while Season 2 accelerated the story, reaching chapter 86. The movie continued from Season 2, possibly concluding the anime.
However, there’s not enough source material for Quintessential Quintuplets season 3 since the manga ended. A couple of OVA episodes are the best we can hope for.
Which Studio Will Animate 5-Toubun no Hanayome 3?
The first season of Quintessential Quintuplets was the work of Tezuka Productions. However, the studio did not work on the remaining seasons and movies.
Instead, the work was handed off to Bibury Animation Studios which did a great job adapting the second season and the 2022 movie.
In case we get season 3 of Quintessential Quintuplets, we can expect Bibury Animation Studios to continue the adaptation. This is because they’re experienced with the source material and have established themselves as the animators of the series.
Quintessential Quintuplets – Popularity
The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie, released in May, created a buzz in Japan. In its first three days, it sold 290,000 tickets and earned $3.06 million. This revenue boosts the chances of a new season.
Typically, an anime with 100,000 Twitter followers has good chances of renewal. The anime’s page has about 645k followers and is growing. Disc sales from previous seasons met targets, indicating strong Japanese popularity.
It’s ranked 180th on MyAnimeList and generates significant online chatter and Google searches. The manga boasts over 16 million copies in circulation. Plus, a recent video game release adds to its success.
In the 2021 winter season, the second season sold an average of 3,853 units per volume, ranking 8th among 45 anime series.

All seasons and movies of the series are available to stream on Crunchyroll. According to MyAnimeList, the first season alone is available on Netflix for certain regions.
However, since they don’t have the second season or the movie on their platform, we cannot expect them to have the third season when it releases.
