Eromanga Sensei Season 2 Release Date & Renewal Status
The first season aired from April 9 to June 25, 2017, followed by two special OVA episodes on January 16, 2019. Although season 2 is unconfirmed, the finished light novel hints at its possibility.
Considering various factors, we can expect season 2 by late 2025 if it is greenlit for renewal by 2024. The first season and OVAs were well received, and ample source material remains for future episodes. Season 1 only covered three of the thirteen volumes, so a new season may be on the horizon.
Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?
The Eromanga Sensei anime is based on a light novel series of the same name. The author, Tsukasa Fushimi started the novel on December 10, 2013, and it officially came to an end on August 10, 2022.
It has a total of 13 volumes, and the anime only covered the first three of them. This leaves us with ample source material for season 2 of Eromanga Sensei.
Considering that the novel came to an end quite recently, there is still a good chance that the aniem might be renewed with a sequel.
Which Volume Of The Light Novel Will Eromanga-sensei 2 Start From?
The first season of the anime covers the story from Volumes 1 to 3 of the light novel. It also adapted some parts from future volumes up to the 7th volume.
So, the second season will start with the 4th volume of the LN. If you want to start reading the novel after the anime, then the fourth volume is where you must start.
However, the anime took some liberty in changing the course and timeline of events from the novel. So, I always recommend you start the light novel from the very beginning for maximum entertainment.
What Will Happen In Eromanga Sensei Season 2?
The anime focuses on Masamune Izumi, a high school student who writes light novels illustrated by the mysterious ‘Eromanga sensei.’ Eromanga’s true identity is actually his stepsister, Sagiri.
Season 2 production is possible, given the available source material. However, there are no official updates or plot details for it yet.
Season 2 may explore the characters’ choices and feelings, including those of Masamune’s friends like Elf and Muramasa. Fans can anticipate a fun and engaging storyline.

Which Studio Will Animate The Next Season?
A1 Pictures is a massive Japanese animation company that has been in the industry since 2005. They have animated popular shows like Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist, and Fairy Tail.
This is the company that created Eromanga sensei season 1. If a second season is announced, we can expect A1 Pictures to continue the adaptation.
However, it is not uncommon for studios to change for sequels, so let’s wait for official news to confirm it.

Where Can I Watch Eromanga Sensei Season 2?
Crunchyroll and Funimation are the only platforms that have season 1 of Eromanga Sensei. Once the second season releases, we can expect it to be available on the same platforms.
Additionally, some other streaming services, like Hulu and HiDive, might get the license for the sequel too. After the anime ends, a Blu-ray edition of the season will also release, containing DVDs of the newer episodes.
