Black Summoner is a popular anime based on a light novel by Doufu Mayoi. It follows Kelvin, a young man reincarnated as a powerful summoner with a goddess companion in another world. The first season aired from July to September 2022 and received praise. Will there be a Season 2 in2023? Honestly, no. Since we’re already through half the year, I don’t think we will be getting a sequel this year.

The Japanese anime Black Summoner, also known as “Kuro no Shoukanshi,” is based on a light novel series by Doufu Mayo, with illustrations by Kurogin and DaiXt.
The story follows Kelvin, summoned to another world by a Goddess, gaining new powerful abilities but losing his memories. He embarks on an adventure with the Goddess.
Studio Satelight animated the first season, which aired from July 9, 2022, to September 24, 2022, in Japan.
Crunchyroll streamed the anime with both sub and dub, receiving praise for its unique take on isekai and its balance of action, humor, and emotions. It was well-received by fans and critics alike.
While the exact release date and renewal status for Season 2 remain unknown, the show’s popularity and critical acclaim make it highly likely that a second season will be announced in the near future.
Black Summoner Season 2 Release Date & Renewal Status
As of now, there’s no official word on Black Summoner Season 2. However, due to the first season’s popularity, chances are high for a renewal. The anime covered five volumes of the 18-volume light novel series, leaving enough source material for future seasons.
If the second season follows a similar production schedule as the first, we may see it in 2024. But this is just speculation. We need an official confirmation from the studio or publisher to be sure.
While the anime is not as mainstream as other isekai series like Mushoku Tensei and Reincarnated as a Slime, Black Summoner still has a decent fan following, enough to get a second season. So, there is still hope to see the story’s continuation sometime next year.
What Will Happen In Black Summoner Season 2?
In Black Summoner Season 2, Kelvin’s adventures continue, uncovering his past. He will grow even stronger, potentially becoming the strongest character in the series. He will face new enemies, get new allies, and go through challenges.
Potential plot points include his confrontation with Victor, the Demon Lord’s army leader, and meeting Clotho, another goddess.
The anime may explore Kelvin’s involvement in the war between humans and demons and his development of unique abilities.
His relationships with followers Melfina, Efil, and Sera may also be further developed in the upcoming season.
Which Studio Will Adapt The Sequel?
Studio Satelight is a popular Japanese company that has animated several hit shows like Fairy Tail, Log Horizon and Hellsing Ultimate. This studio adapted the first season of the anime. So, we can expect the same studio to adapt the second season of Black Summoner.
Satelight is very well-versed in the isekai fantasy genre as they’ve adapted a decent amount of titles in the isekai genre. So, we can expect them to do a great job with the sequel.
Is There Enough Source Material For S2?
The season 1 of Black Summoner adapted till Chapter 36 of the manga. Currently, there are a total of over 90 chapters as of August 2023.
If the production company follows the same pace as the first season, it will cover another 36 chapters which will be upto chapter 72. So, we have just the right amount of manga source material available for the adaptation.
However, if we look at the light novel series, there are a total of 19 Volumes as of August 2023. The anime’s season one only covered the first 5 volumes so there is more than enough content for another 2 more seasons!
