Kumo Desu Ga Nani Ka Season 2 Release Date & Renewal Status
Production studios assess financial and commercial factors before announcing renewals. While the anime didn’t hugely boost light novel sales, it ranked second in the Light Novels Top 2022 BookWalker Global Sales.
Volume 16, released alongside Season 1, sold well, reaching high ranks in Japan’s Weekly Light Novel Ranking.
Although Season 1 of “So I’m a Spider, So What” was above-average, it didn’t match the popularity of other isekai like Re: Zero, Slime, or Mushoku Tensei. However, sales, ratings, and reviews indicate Season 2 is likely.
Renewal depends on studio and source material availability. Studio Millepensee is small and has limited resources.
While there’s potential for Season 2, the studio’s history and CGI issues from previous projects pose challenges.
Official confirmation for Kumo Desu Ga Nani Ka Season 2 is pending for now. But we are sure that the second season will arrive sometime in late 2024 or early 2025.
Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?
Okina Baba wrote and Tsukasa Kiryu illustrated the light novel “Kumo desu ga, Nani ka.” It started on Shsetsuka ni Nar on May 27, 2015, and Fujimi Shobo acquired it in December 2015. The novel ended officially on January 8, 2022. There are a total of 18 volumes, including the two extra volumes.
The anime has covered the story until the middle of volume 5. So, there is more than enough source material for season 2 of Kumo Desu Ga Nani Ka.
The series also has a manga adaptation. However, fans complain that it is a poor adaptation of the novel. Apparently, even the anime is a better adaptation than the manga.
The “Kumo desu ga, Nani ka” manga, also by Okina Baba and illustrated by Asahiro Kakashi, began on Young Ace Up on December 22, 2015. It spans 13 volumes so far. The manga is still ongoing, with the latest release on July 10, 2023.
As of September 2023, the “So I’m a Spider, So What” light novel series has sold 4 million copies. It’s rated 7.45/10 and ranked #1960 with 217k members on MyAnimeList. The Light Novel has a rating of 8.39/10 and is ranked #213 with 9.4k members on MyAnimeList.
What Will Happen In Kumo Desu Ga Nani Ka Season 2?
In the story’s beginning, a normal school day turns tragic as all the children and a teacher suddenly die. They’re reborn in another world. While most become influential figures, one girl reincarnates as a weak spider, determined to survive and level up for a better life.
But can she thrive as the weakest spider? Challenges intensify as she levels up. The central question is her survival. Now, let’s discuss whether you should watch this anime. The unique storyline and character progression are enjoyable.
However, the storytelling approach may feel off, focusing too much on the spider rather than the broader context. Controversial yet awesome; if you haven’t seen it, give it a try.
The second season of So I’m a Spider So What, will pick up the story where it left off in season 1. We will see our dear spider girl’s adventures in volume 5 of the Light Novel series.
Similar to the first season, we can expect the plot to be darker than your average Isekai story. We will see our main character become stronger and face even more powerful villains. Some mysteries from the first season will also be revealed.

Which Studio Will Animate The Next Season?
Studio Millepensee is a relatively small and unknown Japanese animation studio. It has only adapted a total of 27 anime series so far. This was the studio responsible for the popular Berserk anime series.
However, in recent years, they’ve only been focusing on Isekai stories like “Cop Craft” and “I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World.”
We can expect the same studio to continue animating season 2 of Kumo Desu Ga Nani Ka.
This studio has a record of not taking on any new projects for years before they finally take on one. So, if we were to get a sequel to So I’m a Spider so What, it will most likely be around 2025. But if we are lucky, we might see the second season around the end of 2024.
