Classroom of the Elite, also known as COTE, is a popular anime that is awaiting season 3. The production of the third season has been confirmed, and it is set to air in January 2024.
The producer, Kadokawa, had promised to renew the show in winter 2024 and later officially announced the good news.

COTE Season 3 Release Date & Renewal Status
Classroom of the Elite (COTE) Season 3 was announced in February 2022 after the success of Season 2. It was initially expected to air in 2023, possibly during the summer. However, due to production issues, the premiere has been delayed to January 2024.
The third season will conclude the first-year arc of the light novel, spanning nine volumes and two manga volumes. We don’t know the exact number of episodes the sequel will have. However, based on the previous seasons, we can take a guess. We speculate that it’s likely that Season 3 will have 12 or 13 episodes to wrap up the story effectively.
Is There Enough Source Material For You-zitsu 3?
The Classroom of the Elite is an anime based on a light novel of the same name. The LN started publishing on May 25, 2015, and ended on September 25, 2019. This concluded the Year 1 arc.
It has a total of 11 main volumes and three more short story volumes.
Later, on January 24, 2020, the author Shōgo Kinugasa started writing the “Year 2” novel. Currently, it has only 9 volumes so far, but the author is releasing new volumes every year, so we can expect more and more content in this new LN.
The anime’s first two seasons cover the story until volume 7 of the first light novel. So, the third season will start with volume 8 and adapt until the end of the first light novel series. Therefore, there is enough source material for season 3 of COTE.
What Will Happen In COTE Season 3?
Classroom of the Elite is full of mysteries, especially surrounding Kiyotaka’s purpose in Class D and his past connections.
Season 3 will most likely conclude the First Year arc, covering volumes eight to 11.5 of the novel. Expect more special tasks, like the Mixed Training Camp, new characters, and plot twists.
Fans hope for answers to lingering questions about Ayanokoji’s past and the true villain. While Season 3 might be delayed, past seasons are available on Crunchyroll for viewers to catch up.
Which Studio Will Animate The Upcoming Season?
Studio Lerché has done a great job with seasons 1 and 2 of Classroom of the Elite. At this point, it is pretty much guaranteed that the same studio will continue with the sequel. Given the track record of Lerche, we can surely expect another top-notch installment of the series.
That said, there has not been an official announcement about the studio just yet. We are 99% sure that Lerche will return for the third season. But in the odd chance that they don’t, we can expect other big-name companies to continue the adaptation.
