Many anime fans crown Goku as the strongest anime character of all time. But that’s far from the truth. In this article I will be counting down some characters who can actually defeat Goku with their insane abilities.

While it is true that Goku is easily one of the most overpowered characters to be introduced, he is not even the strongest in his own series (at least in the main timeline.)

So that begs the question. Is he really the strongest of all anime and manga characters?

Well, spoiler alert! He is not. He barely even makes the top 10 overpowered anime and manga characters of all time. This is mostly because he does not have the “hax” abilities that some of the other characters have.

So today, I will be covering some of the best characters from anime, manga and light novel who can defeat Goku in a death battle.

Top 15+ Strongest Anime & Manga Characters Who Can Defeat Goku

In this section, I will be covering the anime, manga, and light novel characters who have proven to be far more powerful than Goku.

These characters have certain abilities that simply overpower all of Goku’s skills and abilities.

So without further ado, here are the strongest anime, manga, and light novel characters who can defeat Goku easily.

Featherine Augustus (Umineko no Naku Koro ni)

If you’ve been following my articles for a while, you’ve probably come across my list of anime characters with god-like powers. In that article, I listed Featherine pretty much at the very top.

And there’s a very good reason for that. Featherine is literally a god and the creator of everything.

Because of this, she has limitless powers to manipulate reality, space, and time itself.

She goes way beyond being overpowered, as her skills and abilities are literally unimaginable.

With such incredible power, she can easily wipe out Goku or just toy with him in a fight till she feels bored enough to take him out.

Akuto Sai (Demon King Daimao)

Akuto Sai is yet another character that I’ve listed in several of my articles about overpowered characters. While the anime does not get to the part where he actually becomes limitlessly powerful, the light novel does.

In the novel, he has attained omniprescence and is omnipotent, and fans believe him to be even more powerful than Featherine.

This is because he is an immortal and literally nothing and everything at the same time in his void body form.

His skills and abilities are also limitless, making everything possible for him. So he can easily erase Goku out of existence or just overpower him in a straight-on fight and defeat him.

Yukari Yakumo (Touhou Project)

Goku is a powerhouse who is known for his raw physical strength and his ki blasts. However, he does not have any other magical, godlike ability, unlike Yukari.

Yukari has the ability to change anything in reality into fiction and vice versa. For example, she could make her own death a fiction, making her unkillable.

Or she could make up any deadly weakness for Goku and make it real. What’s more fearsome about Yukari is that anything she changes is irreversible.

Whatever she creates stays in existence. Whatever she destroys stays destroyed forever and ever.

Battler Ushiromiya (Umineko no Naku Koro ni)

Goku can withstand planet-bursting physical attacks and may even be resistant to mental attacks to a certain level.

However, he is not immune to “conceptual attack.” Or, in other words, reality bending is bound to be effective against Goku.

This is exactly why Battler Ushiromiya can defeat Goku despite being physically weaker and slower than him.

He has the ability called “Endless Nine,” which allows him to be unaffected by anything that he ignores or denies.

For instance, Battler can just ignore the presence of Goku, and he will be completely immune to anything Goku can do.

While he cannot physically defeat Goku, him pretty much ignoring his existence and being unaffected by him can be counted as a win, right?

Misogi Kumagawa (Medaka Box)

Some of you might think that Misogi has no chance against Goku, and you are right. But if we’re not just talking about one fight, then Misogi can screw up Goku pretty much for sure.

Misogi has the “All fiction” ability that can make any reality into fiction. He was even able to reverse his own death by declaring it fiction.

Or he could just erase the concept of speed and power to make Goku weaker, or simply erase him out of existence.

But what’s more, Misogi gets stronger and stronger each time he loses. So even if Goku manages to defeat Misogi, he’s only going to come back stronger.

Yogiri Takatou (Instant Death)

Yogiri is probably the most overpowered character on this list, as he can kill anything and anyone.

Gods? Devils? Doesn’t matter. Whatever that lives will die if he activates his abilities.

In the Instant Death manga, we even see a being that tried to erase the timeline where Yogiri cast instant death upon it. But surprise! Once the ability is activated, regardless of the timeline, only death awaits.

He is able to kill even multiverse beings, so defeating Goku is just a piece of cake to Yogiri.

Chronos (Saint Seiya)

Chronos is the creator of multiverses that literally have their own multiverse. He is a 6D or above being that is just too overpowered for anyone to even scratch it.

Of course, Goku, even in his Xeno form, will have no way to defeat Chronos because he will simply be in the same class as him or be outclassed.

As a being that is beyond the concept of time, Chronos is completely limitless in speed, strength, durability, and anything else you can think of.

Boasting immortality and the ability to manipulate everything, Chronos has the ability to defeat Goku.

Gold Experience Requiem (Jojo Part 5)

Gold Experience Requiem (GER) is a stand from Jojo’s bizarre adventure, which is pretty much the most overpowered stand there is.

Its powers overrule all logic and exist outside of time, space, and reality.

What’s more, it has the “return to zero” ability, which can reverse any attacks and even make Goku’s willpower zero.

If Goku hits GER, he will be stuck in place for eternity, as his attacks, willpower, and anything else that matters can be returned to zero.

Rimuru (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)

Rimuru from the anime barely stands a chance against Goku, but his final version in the light novel can overpower him.

By overpower, I mean that he could simply wipe Goku out of existence. Rimuru has several hax abilities, like instant death and existence erasure, with which he can win without even fighting.

After all, Rimuru is one of the strongest magic users in all of anime, manga and light novel.

He also has the ability to win against anything that has a soul, so Goku, being a living person, stands no chance against the final Rimuru.

In addition to these abilities, Rimuru has hundreds of other magic skills and abilities that make him a pretty devastating foe for anyone.

Kars (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Light Novel)

The light novel version of Kars from JoJo is literally impossible for Goku to win against.

This is because this version of Kars possesses every stand ability, including Requiem, except for Star Platinum.

So, including GER and other insanely overpowered stands that cover a wide range of abilities, Kars has attained true godhood with this and his immortality.

Not to mention, he has the ability to copy any skill or power of any living being. In addition, Kars also claimed that he could return even if he were erased from existence.

Overall, the light novel version of Kars is too overpowered and can defeat Goku for sure.

Anime Characters Who Might Defeat Goku Under Certain Conditions

Iihiko Shishime (Medaka Box)

Iihiko is a one-of-a-kind monster of a being who is potentially undefeatable.

Why, you ask?

Because he is immune to any damage he does not recognize, and his attacks are unhealable.

For example, the bones he breaks will remain broken for eternity. But that’s not all he’s got.

Any attack that hits him but fails to damage him will get “broken” forever. That is, the same attack can never be used.

Not to mention, reality-bending techniques won’t work on him.

However, Goku is several times faster and stronger than Iihiko, without a doubt. So the only condition under which Iihiko can defeat Goku is when Goku does not know about Iihiko’s abilities.

If Goku tries to fight him without transforming, he is going to be in for a surprise.

Accelerator (A Certain Scientific Accelerator)

Accelerator is a pretty overpowered character who can reflect any and all attacks that have force.

Goku can pummel, use ki, or throw a planet at him, and it wouldn’t matter as Accelerator’s ability will automatically reflect them with his vector manipulation. So far, there is no known limit to this ability. So even if Goku is infinitely more powerful than Accelerator, his ability should work just fine.

The only weakness Accelerator has is that he is not immune to attacks that do not have a vector. For example, he is completely vulnerable to instant death magic, reality wrapping, etc.

That said, Xeno Goku has such vectorless abilities that he can seal Accelerator before he can do anything.

So unless Accelerator can defeat Goku before that, he will lose the fight.

Nanika (Hunter x Hunter)

Nanika from Hunter x Hunter is a mysterious entity that acts as a second personality for Killua’s sister.

The anime and manga do not explore much of Nanika’s powers, but from what we know, she is literally a wish-granting genie.

If Nanika is powerful enough to grant someone’s wish to kill Goku or even weaken him, there is a chance that Nanika can indirectly defeat him.

However, it is completely possible that Goku (Xeno) can resist her level of death manipulation. And we don’t know if Goku can resist other kinds of wishes that she could grant that would weaken or bind him.

Eri (My Hero Academia)

Eri from My Hero Academia has the power to reverse time for the people she touches.

This way, she is even capable of completely reversing time for her target to the point that they do not exist.

So, if she touches Goku and activates her powers, she can erase his existence. However, Goku is ultra-fast, and if she already knows her powers, there’s no way he will let her touch him.

Not to mention, if it takes even a second to erase him fully, he can easily escape her touch.

Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass)

Lelouch is a genius who was able to single-handedly overthrow an entire empire and change the world as he wanted.

So he has a good chance at manipulation with Goku, who is pretty naive and gullible at times.

Not to mention, Lelouch’s geass power has even worked on collective consciousness (god), so it might even be possible to command Goku to do anything he wants.

For example, he could command him to kill himself, and that would be the end of it. However, we know that strong willpower can resist the command for a certain duration. So he can kill Lelouch in that time.

That said, the command itself is absolute, and Goku would end up obeying it at the end, whether he wanted to or not. So this might be a draw.

Ryuk (Death Note)

Ryuk is the god of death who has the ability to grant death to humans. However, since Goku is a Saiyan, some believe that Ryuk can’t defeat him.

But that’s not exactly right. What we know is that Ryuk wrote the rules so that the death note’s human user had to abide by them.

Not to mention, in the Death Note one-shot sequel manga, we see Ryuk adding new rules to the book. So it is entirely possible for him to kill Saiyans.

Since Ryuk is invisible to anyone who does not have the death note, Goku can’t see him, touch him, or attack him.

But killing people when it is not their time is a taboo that costs the shinigami its life, so Ryuk might die, unless that rule is overwritten by whatever ever higher being made that rule.

Truth (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)

Truth is a mysterious entity that has never used its powers in the series. So we have no way to know for sure what it is capable of.

However, we know that Truth is a concept. And Goku can’t erase concepts as of now. He can erase timelines and universes, but he can’t do anything with the concept of truth.

So we know that he can’t defeat it either. Therefore, there is a very good chance that Truth might be able to defeat Goku.

Saitama (One Punch Man)

Finally, we have our one and only Saitama. The one-punch man Now, I know there are two groups of people. One group is angry that Saitama is even on this list, and the other group thinks, “of course Saitama can definitely defeat Goku. He is named One Punch Man for a reason.”

However, factually, Saitama is nowhere near Goku’s peak strength. We have seen several of Goku’s feats that outclass anything that Saitama has ever done.

The best we know is Saitama can pop planets with a sneeze, or maybe even an entire solar system if he wishes for it. But this kind of strength is very common in the Dragon Ball franchise nowadays.

That said, in Saitama’s own verse, he is the one-punch man. He is a gag character that is supposed to defeat anything and anyone with just his punches. So if he has that kind of plot armor, then yeah, he can defeat Goku.

Unless Goku has some reality-bending ability that can erase the concept of Saitama being undefeatable, he can win.
