Goku Family Tree Explained

Goku is the most popular and one of the most well-written character in the Dragon Ball franchise. He and his family have a larger part in the series and are given more screen time. Who is Goku?

Goku is extremely proud of his son, Gohan, for outperforming him in terms of potential. He trained him in a Hyperbolic Time Chamber to defeat Cell in the Cell Saga. To support his family, he works as a radish farmer in the Dragon Ball Super series. Throughout the series, he is the only character who displays all human emotions.

12. Ox-King (Goku’s Father-in-law)

Ox-King is the father of Chi-Chi and therefore holds the position as father-in-law in Goku’s family tree. He is the King of the Fire Mountain, and his castle is covered in flames. He is also known as Ox-Demon, but his real name is Gyumao. His demeanor is very friendly, innocent, and entertaining. He has a huge, giant-like body with a lot of facial hair all over his body.

Ox-King is a martial artist who always has an axe with him. At the Turtle School, he learned all of his fighting skills from his master, Roshi. His appearance changed at the end of the Dragon Ball series, and he now wears normal clothes and glasses. He loved, cared for, and was very cooperative with his family. He made frequent visits to his daughter’s home and lavished her with gifts. 

Ox-King also appeared in the Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone film, where he delivered books to Gohan as a gift. He also made an appearance in the new Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods film. He appears in this film at Bulma’s birthday party at Capsule Corporation.

11. Mr. Satan (Goku’s Daughter-in-law’s Father)

Mr. Satan is the father of Goku’s daughter-in-law, Videl. Other than his daughter, we don’t know much about Satan’s family.

Satan is the World Martial Arts Champion and the Earth’s “saviour”. When Goku and his team were on Namek planet, he won this title by defeating normal earthlings in the World Martial Arts Tournament. His personality is kind, brave, and a little too egotistical. 

Satan is one of the wealthiest and most famous men in Dragon Ball’s world. He has a tall body, black curly hair, and a distinctive mustache. Before Satan, his real and original name was Mark. The majority of Earthlings believe he defeats Cell in Cell games. As a result, a city’s name is changed from “Orange City” to “Satan City” in honour of his alleged victory.

Goku has high regard for Satan after witnessing his generosity and valour against Majin Buu. Satan is the only one who convinced the people of Earth to give their energy to Goku’s Super Spirit Bomb to defeat Kid Buu.

10. Grandpa Gohan (Goku’s Adoptive Grandfather)

Grandpa Gohan is the adoptive grandfather of Son Goku and the most important person in his life. He is also one of the earliest family member of goku to be introduced.

Grandpa Gohan has a really kind and lovable personality, and he adopts an unknown child he finds in the woods. He trained Goku and taught him all of his martial arts skills.

Grandpa Gohan was also an excellent martial artist and Master Roshi’s top student.

Grandpa Gohan was killed by Goku’s great ape transformation when he was a child. He reappeared as a “mysterious fifth man” in the Fortuneteller Baba Saga after a long absence. In this saga, he fought against Goku while wearing a fox mask. He is eager to see Goku’s strength, skills, and what he’s learned over the years.

Grandpa Gohan dealt a lot of damage to Goku in this fight and nearly killed him. However, he eventually revealed his identity and had an emotional reunion with him. He is very proud of Goku for coming so far and fighting so well.

9. Goku Jr. (Goku’s Descendant)

Goku’s family tree becomes a bit obscure in the GT series. They time skip to a distant era where his descendant stars as the main protagonist. Goku Jr. is a descendant of Goku who served as the main character in the Dragon Ball GT: A Hero’s Legacy movie. He also appeared in the final episode “Until we meet again” of Dragon Ball GT. In this episode, he is competing in the 64th World Martial Arts Tournament against Vegeta Jr. In this match, he demonstrates the power of his super Saiyan form.

Goku Jr. looks very similar to his ancestor, Goku, from the Dragon Ball series. He possesses all of his ancestors’ characteristics, such as Goku’s signature hairstyle and Gohan’s skin colour. He is also very emotional, similar to Videl, and always wears a red headband, similar to Bardock.

In the film Hero’s Legacy, he meets his ancestor Goku and learns how to become strong in order to save his loved ones. After this meeting, he becomes brave and begins to fight in the way of Goku.

8. Pan (Goku’s Grand-daughter) 

Pan is the granddaughter of Goku and Mr. Satan. She is a quarter saiyan with traits inherited from her parents, Gohan and Videl.

Pan made her first appearance in Dragon Ball Z Episode 289. She later had a significant role in the Dragon Ball GT series.

She had short hairstyles like her mother, Videl, and a pale skin tone when she was younger. Her hairstyles changed as she grew older, and she began to resemble her grandmother, Chi-Chi. She is a self-assured and independent child.

Pan is portrayed as a very playful, amusing, and smiling child in the Dragon Ball Super series. She is also shown to be a very capable Saiyan warrior, similar to her father, Gohan.

7. Videl (Goku’s Daughter-in-law)

Videl is the daughter of Mr. Satan and the daughter-in-law of Goku. She is a stunning woman with a slim body and light blue eyes.

Videl first appeared as a major character in Dragon Ball Z Episode 200. She later appeared in the Dragon Super series as well as Dragon Ball Z: Broly Second Coming.

Videl initially appeared to be a tomboyish girl who was rigid, self-reliant, and harsh. She is a martial artist who has won the Junior World Martial Arts Tournament. She learned to fly by controlling ki and various combat skills from Gohan after meeting him.

Videl fell in love with him while training with him, married him, and had a daughter, Pan.

Videl became more caring and calm after marrying Gohan. She takes on all of the family responsibilities and looks after everyone in the house, like Chi-Chi. She is also a good mother who encourages her daughter, Pan, to pursue her dreams.

6. Goten (Goku’s Younger Son)

Goten is a hybrid saiyan and the youngest son of Goku. He first debuted in episode 201 of Dragon Ball Z. He has similar facial features and a unique hairstyle to his father, Goku. His demeanor is very friendly and lighthearted.

As a result of his mother’s upbringing, Goten has good manners and respect for others. He had a lot of respect and love for his brother Gohan, and he admired him a lot. He was far stronger as a child than his father, Goku, and brother, Gohan. In the Dragon Ball Z: Broly-Second Coming movie, he assisted Gohan in defeating Broly by using Family Kamehameha.

Goten is also able to transform into a Super Saiyan at a young age. He played an important role in the Buu saga and demonstrates his incredible strength. In this saga, Goten merged with Trunks to form the Gotenks, who fought Majin Buu fearlessly.

5. Gohan (Goku’s Elder son)

Gohan is the most potent Saiyan warrior and the most important member of Goku’s family tree. He is eldest son of Goku and Chi-chi. He dislikes fighting, but when it comes to protecting his loved ones, he transforms into a formidable fighter.

Gohan is also one of the most powerful and popular characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. 

He was first introduced as a humble and bright child. His appearance as a child is that of a decent small boy with short, spiky hair. In adulthood, he has the same facial features as Goku and the same hairstyle as Yamcha. He had a close relationship with his family and his mentor, Piccolo. He gave a lot of attention to his family after marrying Videl and took full responsibility for it.

Gohan frequently demonstrates his extraordinary strength and saves the Earth from fearsome foes. In the Cell Saga, he first appeared as the main character. He used the power of his Super Saiyan 2 form to kill the cell in this saga. Later, he also played a major role in the Dragon Ball Super series and demonstrated his new ultimate form. 4. Chi-Chi (Goku’s Wife) 

Chi-Chi is the princess of Fire Mountain and the wife of Goku. She is an excellent martial artist and the most powerful woman on the planet. Chi-chi was initially introduced as a quiet and fearful girl. She later developed into a tomboyish girl with a harsh and energetic personality.

Chi-Chi is a lovely woman of average height and slender build. She has a pure heart, which allows her to ride the flying nimbus with Goku. She became an overly protective, dominating, and well-mannered woman after marrying Goku. Throughout the series, she frequently expresses her deep affection for Goku and her family.

In the Red Ribbon Army Saga, she demonstrates her combat abilities by defeating several Red Ribbon soldiers. She also competed in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, where she advanced to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, she fought against Goku and was easily defeated by him.

3. Raditz (Goku’s Brother)

Raditz is a full-blooded saiyan warrior and the elder brother of Goku. He is also known by the name of “Raditz the Runt.” He is also the first blood related family member of Goku to be introduced in the show.

Raditz first appeared in Dragon Ball Z as the first and main antagonist. His physical appearance differs greatly from that of his brother. He has long black spiky hair that resembles Goku’s Super Saiyan 3.

Raditz is a cruel, heartless, and arrogant character who only wants to become as powerful as Vegeta and Nappa. He comes to Earth to recruit Goku for his team. He wished to exact revenge on Frieza for destroying their planet and causing the extinction of the Saiyan races. In the fight against Piccolo and Goku, he easily defeats them due to his enormous power level. 

Raditz was very confident in his abilities and enjoyed mocking weaker opponents. He also made cameo appearances in the films Bardock-The Father of Goku and Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

2. Gine (Goku’s Mother)

The identity of Son Goku’s mom was a big mystery until recent years. In 2014, Gine made it officially into Goku’s family tree as his mom.

Gine is a low-class female Saiyan warrior and the mother of Goku. She has only appeared in a few series and doesn’t get much screen time in the franchise. Gine first appeared in Dragon Ball Minus: Departure of the Fated Child in a special episode. She later appeared in the most recent Dragon Ball Super Broly film.

Gine has a soft, genuine, and caring personality like her younger son, Goku. She is also a warrior who used to be on Bardock’s team. She quit fighting due to a lack of passion and now works at Planet Vegeta’s meat distribution center.

Gine adores and cares a lot for her husband and two sons. She is very sad and opposes Bardock when he sends Goku to Earth. She is also pleased that Raditz has been chosen for Prince Vegeta’s team.

Bardock is a low-class Saiyan warrior and the father of Goku. He is one of the most popular and lovable characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. He first made his appearance in a special episode titled “Dragon Ball Z: Bardock—The Father of Goku.” His physical appearance and hairstyle are similar to those of his son, Goku, but he has a darker skin tone like Raditz.

Bardock has a rude, gutsy personality and enjoys fighting. He also has good judgement and a strong attachment to his family and race. His leadership abilities are exceptional, allowing him to complete all of his missions successfully. During the mission, he puts his own life in danger in order to save his companions’ lives and avenge their deaths.

Bardock is the most powerful and devoted soldier in Frieza’s army. He has a strong sense of self-worth and is the only one who has dared to challenge Frieza.
