At the beginning of Naruto, there are several powerful characters. Here is a list of the top 10 most powerful characters in Naruto season 1. This list does not include reincarnated characters/characters from Naruto Shippuden. It only includes characters from Naruto Part 1.

1. Hiruzen Sarutobi

Hiruzen is the third Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village and the grandfather of Konohamaru. He was said to surpass all the previous Hokage before him, which were Hashirama and Tobirama. He was strong enough to defeat Hashirama and Tobirama when they were first reincarnated and was able to seal off Orochimaru’s arms using the reaper’s death seal.

Orochimaru himself stated that if Hiruzen was in his prime, he would have successfully defeated Orochimaru.

2. Jiraiya

Jiraya was one of the three legendary sanin and was a student of the third hokage. He was undoubtedly one of the most powerful characters in Naruto. Itachi and Kisame, who were both Akatsuki and Kage level threats, were certain that they couldn’t have defeated him. He was strong enough to fight Pain, the leader of the Akatsuki and Konan. Pain even stated that if Jiraiya knew their secret, he could have defeated them.

3. Itachi Uchiha

Itachi Uchiha is a member of the Akatsuki and the brother of Sasuke Uchiha. In his younger years he was capable of defeating Orochimaru and was capable of defeating Kakashi, who was a jonin.

He possesses two dangerous Sharingan abilities; Tsukuyomi, which allows him to trap his victim under an illusion, and Amaterasu, which allows him to create an inextinguishable black flame.

4. Orochimaru

Orochimaru is a member of the Akatsuki and one of the three legendary sanin. He was strong enough to kill the fourth kazekage and kill Hiruzen Sarutobi, the third Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village.

He was able to bring back Hashirama, the first Hokage, and Tobirama, the second Hokage, back to life, and he fought two legendary sanin, Jiraiya and Tsunade, without arms, although he did that with the help of kabuto.

5. Kisame Hoshigaki

Kisame Hoshigaki is a member of the Akatsuki and the partner of Itachi. He is a villain and is one of the most powerful characters in Naruto. He was capable of fighting and shredding Asuma’s skin using his sword, called Sameheda, and was able to kill his master and several shinobi of the hidden mist village while he was a ninja in the hidden mist village.

6. Tsunade Senju

Tsunade was the fifth Hokage and one of the three legendary sanin. She was capable of defeating Orochimaru, although Orochimaru couldn’t use his arms in the fight. She possessed great medical skills and was capable of healing Rock Lee, and Orochimaru was certain that she could have healed his arm, which was sealed off using the reaper’s death seal.

Also, she has a jutsu that allows her to recover from injury at incredible speed.

7. Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi is the son of the white fang and a student of the fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. He has a sharingan in his left eye, and he invented the Chidori, a powerful technique that was strong enough to harm characters like Gaara, the jinkchuriki of Shukaku, and also killed characters like Rin and Haku.

Kakashi is quite strong. He has copied several jutsu and he is known all over the ninja world as Kakashi, the copy ninja.

8. Might Guy

The Might Guy is easily one of the strongest characters in Naruto Part 1. He was able to knock Kisame back with sheer strength. Might Guy is also the mentor of Rock Lee, who is a strong ninja himself.

He often uses taijutsu, but that doesn’t stop him from being one of the strongest characters in the entire Naruto series.

9. Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto is the son of the fourth Hokage and the jinkchuriki of the nine-tailed fox called Kurama. He is extremely powerful. He was able to defeat Neji and Kiba in the chunin exam, and during his fight with Haku, his chakra was stated to be much stronger than Kakashi’s, who was a jonin. 

Later on, he was able to defeat Gaara, who was in his tailed beast form.

10. Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke is the brother of Itachi Uchiha and a member of Kakashi’s team 7. He was capable of defeating several ninjas from the sound village, and he fought the sound four. During the chunin exam, he fought Orochimaru and severely injured Gaara, who was the jinkchuriki of shukaku.

Later on, he was able to defeat Naruto, who had mastered the Rasengan and was the jinkchuriki of the nine tails.
