Jujutsu Kaisen is a hit anime from Fall 2020. It’s undeniably one of the best anime of recent times. That said, there have been anime like Jujutsu Kaisen that share the same basic plot, story telling, or just its atmosphere in general before. Here are some of the best anime that you will love if you liked Jujutsu Kaisen.
Note: I’ve ordered the list based on relativity. So, the higher the anime is ranked on this list, the more it will be similar to Jujutsu Kaisen. With that said, let’s jump into the listing!
Top 15 Anime Like Jujutsu Kaisen
Bleach
Like JJK, Bleach is an anime that deals with spirits. I could have placed it on a higher position on this listing, but Bleach is mainly about Ichigo’s adventures in the spirit realm and not about fighting with evil spirits on the world of the living. They have sown the idea of Soul Reapers hunting down corrupted spirits called “Hollows”, but its nothing more than a basic background information for the actual plot.
Attack On Titan – Dark anime like Jujutsu Kaisen
Attack on Titan shares a dark and gory atmosphere similar to Jujutsu Kaisen. Okay, AoT might be a whole lot darker, but hear me out. In both the series people die left and right in the most horrible way possible. They carry the “heaviness” which most other anime don’t have. However, the key difference is that, Attack on Titan doesn’t ease that heaviness while Jujutsu Kaisen perfectly balances both light and dark themes.
Other than that they are completely different. One’s about spirits and exorcism, the other is about Titans and war. So, only the general mood of both the anime is similar.
Naruto
Naruto is another anime like JJK, where the MC has an evil spirit sealed inside of him. Other than that, both the anime has a trio comprising of 2 boys and one girl. The sensei–Gojo and Kakashi are also very similar in terms of both external appearance and personality.
However Naruto doesn’t deal with evil spirits much, nor does it have a very dark and menacing atmosphere.
Beyond The Boundary
Beyond The Boundary is fundamentally different from any other anime in this listing. It focuses more on love and romance than purely action/adventure. Regardless, despite being a slice of life anime, it does have a decent amount of action and is extremely similar to Jujutsu Kaisen in terms of the world setting.
This anime deals with “Yomu” — creatures that are manifested out of negative emotions, and the main female character fights them as she is the sole survivor of the clan of spirit world warriors. She is also able to manipulate her blood, which is a technique we’ve seen in JJK. Similar to Jujutsu Kaisen’s main character, the main male character of Beyond the Boundary is half yomu, half human too. He is a rare breed immortal being who still retains senses of a normal human being.
The only reason this anime is at the bottom of this list is that, it is not a shonen anime.
Mob Psycho 100
Mob Psycho 100 is about a boy with overwhelming psychic powers. For whatever reasons, he restrains himself and avoids using his powers. Because of this he is often bullied by people who assume that he is weak. However, as his negative emotions grow stronger, the percentage of his power output increases. When it hits 100% he becomes unstoppable and uncontrollable. What mob psycho 100 has in common with Jujutsu Kaisen is that it has powerful spirits, vengeful and exorcists who fight against them.
Parasyte
While Parasyte is not an anime about spirits/apparitions, the menace caused by the parasites on the human race is the same as that of curses in JJK. Both parasites and cursed spirits try to take over the world as they believe they are the superior species.
Parasites take control of the human brain and make the body as their host. However, the main character luckily escaped from having his brain consumed when one such parasites attacked. Instead of taking over the brain, it was only able to take over his hand, making it unable to control his entire body. Now with the enhanced physical abilities granted by the parasite, he has to fight and save mankind from this invasion.
Blue Exorcist
As the name suggests, this anime is about Exorcism too. Both the main characters were dragged into a world they were never aware of before. Similar to JJK, the MC of this anime is also hated by some of his own comrades as he has a demon inside him. Blue Exorcist has a good mix of comedy and action just like Jujutsu Kaisen.
In/Spectre
The main concept of Jujutsu Kaisen is that spirits/curses are born out of negative human emotions. Similar to this concept, In/Spectre involves spirits that are born out of human imagination. Both of these series deal with powerful spirits that is only visible to a selected few, that causes trouble to the unaware civilians.
However, unlike in Jujutsu Kaisen, In/Spectre doesn’t have any organization to deal with these evil spirits. It is the responsibility of a single girl who can communicate with spirits to keep them from going out of control. This series takes a more “mind game” route than action/adventure.
Black Clover – anime similar to Jujutsu Kaisen in terms of the MC
What makes me think Black Clover is an anime like Jujutsu Kaisen is that both the main characters have an evil spirit/demon inside of them. They both use it as a weapon to achieve their dreams/goals. Basically, they both carry a double edged sword as their source of power, unknowing of when it’ll try to consume them. It has some key similarities like, talking to the demon/spirit within them (the inner realm/domain thing.)
Another thing that is in complete sync with Yuji (JJK’s MC) and Asta (Black Clover’s MC) is that they both have superhuman strength. Unlike other characters in their series, their raw power is on a completely different level, enough to deal with otherwise strong enemies.
In JJK they use Jutsu and in Black Clover they use magic; basically the same thing put in different words, and both the MCs have not mastered it completely yet.
Also, on a completely unrelated note, the voice actor of Yami from Black Clover has voiced Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen and that’s all the more reason to watch this anime.
Boogiepop and Others
Boogiepop and Others is another similar to Jujutsu Kaisen where they fight enemies that are normally invisible to humans. These beings cause only death and destruction to human life. This series has a female lead who’s personality switches into the existence called “Boogiepop.”
Boogiepop is the mysterious and seemingly invincible being who saves people from being killed and maintains balance in the world. What I loved about this anime is that there’s always mystery in the air. Also, Boogiepop’s personality is so captivating that you’ll need nothing else to continue watching this anime. It can get a little confusing at times, but overall it is a great series.
Demon Slayer – anime like Jujutsu Kaisen in terms of villains
Demon slayer has the same feel as JJK in many levels. Right from the first episode there is death and tragedy just like in Jujutsu Kaisen. No character has plot armor unlike most other anime. Both the anime have an organization that fight against the non-human villains that are initially against the main protagonist. Also, the main characters carry a similar personality; they are very kind and always fight for other’s sake. The villains are also similarly overwhelming and dangerous.

Dororo
In Jujutsu Kaisen the main character hunts cursed spirits to collect Sukuna’s fingers to eat them. Similarly, the main hero of Dororo hunts down demons to get back his body parts which were sacrificed by his father when he was born. Dororo is a tragic tale of a baby who’s limbs, eyes, nose, tongue, skin and every other organ was sacrificed to demons in order to make his father’s dream come true.
On the verge of death, the baby was abandoned on a boat, but surprisingly, he survived and was taken in by a former samurai, who now makes prosthetic body parts. With his step father’s help, our main character was able to get prosthetic limbs with inbuilt swords to help him fight. With the mindset of “I’m taking back what is mine”, the young boy sets out to destroy all demons and get back his body parts one by one, even if it meant undoing his true father’s dream empire which eased the suffering of all of his subjects.
Noragami
Noragami is the very first anime that came to my mind when I thought of writing an article about anime like Jujutsu Kaisen. Why? Noragami has a very similar environment that deals with spirits and curses. In both the series the evil spirits are created out of negative human emotions, thus making places like schools and hospitals teeming with foul spirits. But instead of sorcerers/exorcists, Noragami has gods who deal with them.
Toilet Bound Hanako Kun – anime like Jujutsu Kaisen in terms of concept
They even mentioned Toilet bound Hanako kun while explaining apparitions in Jujutsu Kaisen episode 9. This only makes it obvious that this anime has a lot in common with Jujutsu Kaisen. Other than the general spirit/apparition setting, there are also some extremely similar emotionally devastating incidents (which I’m not going to mention, because nobody likes spoilers) that happen in this anime. Not to mention the villains in TBHK are similarly apathetic towards human life.
While Toilet Bound Hanako kun lacks the same intensity as JJK, it is certainly interesting in its own ways.
Fire Force – anime similar to Jujutsu Kaisen’s plot
In Jujutsu Kaisen curses are introduced as mindless monsters that are violent towards anything and everything. Similarly, infernals in Fire Force were thought of just mindless beings that cause damage and destruction. However, in both the series, they have transcended into beings with intelligence that plot upon taking over the world. They both have an organization fighting against an evil organization that plots to destroy humanity. The internal conflicts within different company in the fire force is the same as it was between JJK schools.
Like Jujutsu Kaisen’s domain, Fire Force has its own concept called “Adolla“. The side characters in both the anime are very similar. The one that doesn’t possess special powers, but uses weapons to overcome his weakness. One that is very calculated and professional. The overpowered badass from another company, Bennimaru is somewhat similar to Gojo Satoru.
From what I’ve watched, Fire Force is one of the few anime like Jujutsu Kaisen that shares several similarities in terms of plot and character design.
That’s it for this post! These were all the anime similar to Jujutsu Kaisen!! Hope you found something new to watch (^^)
